Nearly three thousand years ago, Homer's Odyssey examined the long journey home--and the monsters and obstacles that keep us from finding what we love. In the twenty-first century, Mrs. Elliot is a latter-day Odysseus in an assisted living complex, surrounded by bizarre and loopy versions of the Lotus-Eaters, Circe, and the Cyclops. She must find her way home again—though it seems impossibly out of reach—and find her way back to what she loves. The secret lies in a childhood Toy Box, the surreal memories and hopes hidden there—and in the whispered words of her husband Homer that continue to return to her: "Sing in me, Muse, and through me tell the story…” This action-packed comedy for audiences young and old offers a touching story with multiple opportunities for actors and designers. |
